What is Bene?

Bene is a new rewards program that raises funds for New Zealand community groups and charities and puts real cashback in your pocket while you spend in many of New Zealand’s favourite entertainment venues and retail outlets. It is available to all Visa holders in New Zealand.

How does Bene differ from other rewards or discount programmes?


Bene is unique in that you can wave goodbye to the hassle of redeeming vouchers or QR codes. Simply tap / pay with your registered card as you normally would and the cashback savings will be automatically assigned to your personal e-wallet (called Bene-fits) in your Bene Account, and all donations paid to the community group or charity of your choice.  

How do I find businesses offering cashback rewards?

Partner businesses are presented within the in-store and online sections of the Bene APP.  Online partners can be filtered by category and there is also a search function if you are looking for a particular venue. In-store businesses appear on the basis of nearest location, there is also a search function if you wish to look for a particular venue. The distance between your location and a particular business is clearly marked on each listing. The location icon on the top menu bar brings up a map view but there is also a map option within each individual listing to help you locate the venue. The location can also be updated so you can explore what is available in different locations.

How can I earn cashback savings?

Cashback savings are automatically accrued as you pay with the debit or credit card linked to your Bene account in our partner businesses. A record of all cashback transactions and total cashbacks received are available on the Bene app.

How do I donate to my chosen community group or charity?

Donations are automatically made to your chosen charity group or community when you make a purchase with a Bene Business.
The donation percentage that you set (minimum 15%) is deducted from the cashback amount you received and given your chosen community group/charity. You have the ability to support multiple community groups and charities as well as the ability to manage the donation percentage you would like to give from the ‘My Bene Group’ section of the app.  

What bank card can I use?

You can use ANY New Zealand Visa debit or credit card.

How does Bene secure my card details?

During the registration process your card details are passed directly to Visa alongside your Bene user I.D. Card details are not stored by Bene. The Bene User ID is then used as the means by which transactions are communicated between ourselves and Visa.

How do I register my Visa details?

Linking your card could not be easier. For a first-time visitor, a link your card window will appear when you first sign up. For those that select to add their card later, there is a function within each business listing that prompts you to link your card. Once linked, you will be able to receive cashback from all Bene business partner venues by simply paying with your linked card. Card and bank details can also be amended through the settings function if at some point you would like to link a different card or nominate a different account to withdraw your cashback savings.  

How can I get cashback?

You earn cashback by simply registering your Visa details with Bene. Simply shop in-store or online with a Bene Business as you normally would and start earning real cashback savings. Cashback savings are lodged into a person Bene-fit Wallet which can be drawn as soon as $30 savings have been accrued. This can be paid directly into your associated bank account at any point, as a lump sum or by whatever amount you choose to withdraw. You may even choose to leave it there as a means of saving for a special occasion.

How can I keep track of cashback savings and donations?

For most offers, you will receive a notification directly to your phone giving details of your cashback reward. Cashback and Donation notifications are also recorded as individual transaction within the ‘My Transactions’ section of the App. A cumulative record of current savings (Bene Balance) and lifetime Bene-fits can be viewed on the profile page.  

Why do I need to select the 'Credit' option when using a pin?

Visa only sends transaction details when you choose “Credit”. We won’t be notified of your purchase if you make a different selection. If you want to ensure you receive a reward, you need to choose the credit option when asked to enter your pin.

How do the Online Offers work?

We have worked hard to negotiate Cashback deals with many of New Zealand’s favourite brands when you shop online. To be eligible for Cashback you must access the partner site through the ‘Shop now’ link provided within the business listing. This will bring you to the partner website where you will be able to access some of the very best discounts as well as allowing you to secure additional Cashback on the value of your spend. Please note GST,delivery costs and products that are returned do not contribute to the purchase amount that is eligible for Cashback. You will receive an email confirming your pending Cashback as soon as Bene receives confirmation of your purchase from the retailer. Allow up to 7 days from the date of your purchase. Depending on the retailers returns policy, allow approximately 90 days Cashback to be deposited into your personal Bene-fits wallet.
